SolverStudio is much better and faster for large problems. Check out the screen shots to see how it works. This approach provides a much better modelling solution for complex optimisation problems. The SolverStudio interface is fully Excel-based, with the model being edited and run from Excel and stored inside the Excel file. The latest release allows GAMS and AMPL modesl to be solved in the cloud using the excellent free NEOS servers. Available as a free download, SolverStudio lets you use Excel to edit, save and solve optimisation models built using modelling languages such as the Python-based PuLP, AMPL, GAMS, GMPL, COOPR/Pyomo and Gurobi’s Python interface. SolverStudio is a free alternative to OpenSolver that is better suited to larger problems.

Here are seven tips to reduce your Excel file size right now: Tip #1: Remove conditional formattingĬonditional formatting comes in handy when you need to highlight specific data. As seen above, you can start by focusing on the heaviest worksheets. Pick any large Excel file you want to lighten. Here is the detailed guide for finding a sheet’s name. One way to know for certain you have the right sheet is to get the exact name. If you have a lot of hidden sheets, it can become tricky to find the right one. Usually, it corresponds to the n+1 sheet in your Excel file in the above example, we could start by trimming the twenty-seventh sheet.īe careful! The n+1 rule takes into account hidden sheets. For instance, “sheet26.xml” accounts for almost one-third of the global volume. Spotting the heaviest sheets can help you choose which to start with.
